This Week at St. George – Feast of the Entrance!

Glory be to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

This week we celebrate the Great Feast of the Entrance of the Mother of God into the Temple. We know of this event chiefly from our liturgical tradition, but the Protoevangelium of St. James may be a source.

Our celebration at St. George will be with the following services:

  • The Paramon (or "Eve") of the Feast, Wednesday 11/20
    • 6PM Great Vespers with Litya and Artoklasia
  • Day of the Feast, Thursday 11/21
    • 9AM Festal Matins
    • 10AM Divine Liturgy

Quite often, a few of us go out to share a meal in celebration of the Feast, after the Liturgy.

It is incumbent upon all Orthodox Christians to celebrate the Holy Feasts. If you are unable to attend divine services, please:

  • Have a festive meal (Fish, wine and oil are allowed on this festive day)
  • Greet others with the Joy of the Feast
  • Read portions of the appointed Scriptures or Divine Service texts
  • Sing or recite the Troparion or other hymnody of the Feast

This weekend’s schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, 11/23
    • 5PM Great Vespers
    • 6PM Catechism
  • Sunday, 11/24
    • 9AM Sunday Matins
    • 10AM Divine Liturgy

The 2025 Liturgical Calendar is available in the narthex. Please take as many as you need, as we have plenty. Thanks to Sob Haick and Haick Accounting for sponsoring these every year!

Sam Fadel will once again be directing the annual Christmas Pageant. We need all our kids and teens to participate (especially boys!). This year the performance will be on Sunday 12/22 (immediately following the Liturgy. Rehearsals will be Sunday 12/15 and Saturday AM 12/21. Please see Sam with questions. Inquirers, Catechumens and visitors welcome!

Please get your donations to Erin Kensinger ASAP so we can provide Thanksgiving dinners for needy families.

Mike Slaiman is off with knee replacement surgery. Please keep him in your prayers. We need all to pitch in to replace all the hard work he does in keeping our church clean, while he is out. Please see Sylvia or Colline about how you can help!
