Forgiveness Weekend!

Well, we are drawing nigh to the Great and Holy Fast. Here is our schedule for this transitional weekend:

• Saturday 2/21
  • 5PM Great Vespers
  • 6PM Family Fun Night
    • Informal. Bring food to share (NO meat. But, cheese, eggs etc encouraged!). Beverages (beer and wine, etc OK). Board Games, instruments…. Let’s enjoy each other’s company before we get down to the hard work of our fasting and repentance!
      
• Sunday 2/22 Cheesefare Sunday/Forgiveness Sunday/Sunday of the Expulsion from Paradise
  • 9AM Sunday Orthros
  • 10AM Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom
  • Coffee Hour
  • 1pm(ish) Forgiveness Vespers w/ “Rite of Forgiveness”
    • I ask of all of you to please try to stay for this important beginning of the Great Fast.

Monday is “Clean Monday,” the beginning of our Lenten Struggle. Here is the schedule of Clean Week services:

  • 7PM Great Compline w/ 1st part of the “Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete”
• 2/24 Clean Tuesday
  • 7PM Great Compline w/ 2nd part of the Great Canon
• 2/25 Clean Wednesday
  • 5:20PM 9th Hour and Typika
  • 6PM Divine Liturgy of the Preconsecrated Gifts (Lit. of Gregory the Dialogist, Pope of Rome)
  • Lenten Potluck
  • 8pm(ish) Great Compline w/ 3rd part of the Great Canon
• 2/26 Clean Thursday
  • 7PM Great Compline w/ 4th part of the Canon
• 2/27 Clean Friday
  • Lenten Dinner? (No one has yet volunteered)
  • 7PM Little Compline and Akathist to The Mother of God

Next Weekend has a lot going on, so I’ll mention it. Saturday 2/28 is SS Theodore Saturday when we have a retreat with the Sundfay of Orthodoxy Speaker. The flyer is below, but basically the day will be at Annunciation Parish’s Family LIfe Center in Lancaster, Liturgy in the morning followed by a lenten breakfast, two talks by our speaker and Great Vespers.
